All about me & DD's cupcakes

Hi!

For the people that don’t know me I am Dawn the founder and face behind DD’s Cupcakes. I’m 38 years old, a wife to a wonderful guy (he made me put that in), and mum to two energetic boys (well one energetic and one not so much). And when I’m not cooking, cleaning, and being a referee to the kids I run my full time business from home in Paignton, Devon.

Pre-children I had many years experience working in, and eventually running a kitchen and always preferred baking and desserts, it was something I really enjoyed especially the tasting part. After university came retail and management, then marriage and very quickly after my eldest! Being a full time mum was great but hubby & I always talked about running a business we just didn’t know what. The youngest member of the family arrived within 2 years, and life suddenly got a whole lot busier! I won’t bore you with the rest so fast forward 6 years to when DD’s Cupcakes was born.

The idea behind DD’s Cupcakes came about after helping out our builder at the time with some cupcakes for his wife’s 30th birthday. Baking those birthday cupcakes reignited the passion I once had for baking, and the light bulb moment happened! After a bit of research, a month later in May 2016 I took the plunge and started DD’s Cupcakes. What is now an award winning home baking business, specialising in bespoke cupcakes & cupcake bouquets.

Initially the plan was to run the business alongside my part time job, but due to the continual use of computer screens and ongoing health issues I had to give it up. DD’s Cupcakes was suddenly all I had and thankfully has grown from strength to strength. I may talk about cupcakes, dream about cupcakes, bore the kids, family and friends with cupcakes, but I love what I do. I am very lucky to be able to work from home doing something I am passionate about every day, and have a very supportive husband to thank for that (he made me add that too).

2016 was an exciting year for DD’s Cupcakes and I am extremely thankful for every single follower and customer. With 2017 off to a great start I am looking forward to more exciting times and new adventures in the year ahead.

So that’s a little insight into me and how DD’s Cupcakes came about. My aim for future blogs is to include pieces about my cupcakes, product reviews, what makes a good cupcake etc.
